Preserving our Heritage: Keeping the Flame of Arab Culture Alive

Contributor: Sarah Behjet

It is often hard to preserve our Arab culture in societies that may not mirror those of our upbringings and cultural comforts. Cultural heritage often dies in the face of cultural exclusion or lack of representation, but we at BAYT encourage all to keep the flame of Arab culture alive. Changing circumstances do not have to mean diminished cultural identity. We have the power to bring bits and pieces of our beautiful culture into every space we enter. In the face of affliction and hardship, keeping Arab traditions and customs alive is essential.
Pride in Arab culture exists within all of us; we just need to embrace it.
